Ecclesiastes

The ideas an images that the poem Ecclesiates creates is the best thin about this poem for me. I like the sense of how it seems as if someone with wisdom is talking to someone younger about the rules of life and how to get through it. It reminds me of how my mother or older sister breakn to me about life lessons when I need help in certain situations. The sturcutrue and how it is a rule and then a trick to over come the rule. Or a trick then the rules to follow to excite the trick is very fun to read.
The languages used in the poem is very relateable. It's very easy to read and understand another reason why I feel it's kinda like how a older person would break down thing to try and explain to someone younger. When I first read the poem I didn't quite understand what exactly was going in but after reading it again I could really see how it was a since if wisdom being spoken by the author. This has been my favorite poem to read in this boom so far because of the fact that I give life lessons not just a poem about love or sadness.
After doing alittle research the connecting  between the title Ecclesiates and the way the poem is set up really show explains a lot of the things I was thinking. Ecclesiates is originally seen as the book of wisdom in the bible. It is located in the old treatment and is the way people back then used to see wisdom. The boom is set up in the way that it's teaching though who read it the ways of life so that they don't mess up and can fully live life with out stress. So reading this poem and reading exactly what Eccleiates really means the poem really fits the the title. I love the connect between the original purpose of the book and how it is continued to be the poem of wisdom and rules.

Sonnets/ Writing down the bones

This weeks reading have been very interesting to me. The fact that we started off with poetry is really exciting to me because I love reading and writing poetry. So far reading through these poems I have found a few more that I really liked and would like to discus in this blog today. So last class in our groups we talked about the sonnets and the one sonnet that stood out the most had to be XV. when I first read this sonnet i was really confused at how and what was going on in the sonnet. I didn't know at all how i was supposed to be getting out of this because of how all over the place the blog was. After i read it about three times the group decided to talk about it and how they had discussed in a class last week that i had missed that it was to be read a certain way. The after i actually read it the way it was supposed to be read it made way more since to me and i actually like the concept of how it challenges the reader to think outside the box with reading. This makes me want to develop a way of writing that may confuse people at first but then eventually they understand what I was trying to get through in the end. the creativity that was used really impressed me because I'm so used to poems being written the correct way.
The next poem  that my group discussed that we also discussed at the end of class Monday was the LIII sonnet. This had to be my favorite to read. The way he compared the poem to a women and sex was really impressive. Also that he hinted the whole time about sex then at then end came out and said "Fucking is so lovely Who can say no to it later?" really threw me all the way off. Like how up front and honest  he was about it really just had me dumb founded. This made me really think more about how sensual poems can be and make you think alot more about certain things.
lastly the writing down the bones chapter that i read and talked about in class about ornigal details made me remember how i used to really be focused on writing and trying to come up with details. when  if i just concentrate and do the regular details i would be perfectly fine. when i write now it will help me alot more if i just focus on how things really are instead of trying to  boast or fine out more details about something

Introduction of My Self

Hello,
My name is Lindsay Gilbert. This is my first year at Eastern Michigan University. I live on campus because i am originally from Cleveland Ohio. In Cleveland I attended a private catholic school called Saint Martin de Porres High School. EMU wasn't my first choice it was my second i was going to attend Xavier University of Louisiana but after a lot of thinking i realized that New Orleans is very far from home.
Coming into college i thought i really wanted to go into Biochemistry. After  a lot of thinking and with some help from a Friend i realized that i love math way more then bio chemistry so i just recently changed my major to math. I'm not completely sure what i want to go into with a math major yet but I'm on a good track to getting my bachelors in Mathematics. I eventually plan on minoring in music and some point in my college career but I'm not sure if ill wait until i am and undergraduate or not.
I'm a very quiet person but my mind is always going that why i feel that creative writing will soot me this year. It will give me a better opportunity to express and get the things that are going through my head at all times more under control by writing. I love animals and reading. growing up if i wasn't playing with a pet i was reading or rereading a book that I have chosen. I'm really looking forward to this semester and this class a lot
